Get ready for the Ellis County High School Sports Awards

High school athletes from across the area will be honored Monday night during the Ellis County High School Sports Awards, presented by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center.

The show, set to begin at 7 p.m., will feature more than 20 professional athletes and coaches as hosts and awards announcers, including Kevin Garnett, Chipper Jones, T.J. Watt, Katie Ledecky, Kerri Walsh Jennings and Aaron Rodgers.

The show will be available to watch for free on the event website, thanks to the continued support of sponsors. The awards show will highlight players of the year in many sports, the male and female athletes of the year, coach of the year and several special awards.

The event will be hosted by sports broadcasters Laura Rutledge and Desmond Howard.

These guests and local business sponsors have joined together to help the Waxahachie Daily Light honor the best in local high school sports from the past year through an on-demand broadcast show, a decision made to protect the athletes and their families during a year when the possibility of a live show was uncertain.

The show will continue to be available on the event website after it airs so you can share with friends and family as much as possible.

Because the high school season has been adjusted by COVID-19, some sports that have finished too late might not be featured, but honorees and winners will be featured on the show website.

Share your best sports moments and memories from the 2020-21 season, appreciation and congratulations to social media using #ELLISCOHSSA for a chance to be featured on this feed. Add #USATODAYHSSA for a chance to be featured on the national feed.
