The Dallas Mavericks never trailed in their first meeting with the Miami Heat since the seven game finals matchup of last season. Dallas took the 99-93 win in Miami.

Mavís aging warhorse Jerry Stackhouse found his scoring touch in the fourth quarter to keep Dallas in the win column. Stackhouse hit 16 of his 23 points in the final stanza.

Dirk Nowitzki, the early season favorite to win the MVP this season, added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Howard continued to be impressive with 25 points.

Dallas holds the NBA-best record at 34-8 and is 20-1 in its latest burst.

Dwyane Wade suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter, but returned to the game to put up 31 points, six assists and six rebounds.

Jason Williams had 17 points and Udonis Haslem tallied 15 for the defending World Champions.

Shaquille OíNeal saw the game from the third row seats. OíNeal has missed 34 straight games after having knee surgery.

The two teams will not face off again until Feb. 22 when the Heat will visit Dallas.

Dallas will play again tomorrow night in Orlando. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports Network.
