The SAGU Lady Lions continued conference play on Saturday night in the Full Life Center against the Langston University Lady Lions.
SAGU was hoping the momentum from Thursday night's 22 point win over Hillsdale Baptist would hoist them further into the conference race for the post season tournament.
SAGU found themselves trailing 5-0 but an inside shot from Michelle Michener tied the game at five all after four minutes of play.
Three minutes later, SAGU trailed by eight points but cut the lead to three (15-18) when Amanda Hores hit a lay-up with a Jamie Duke assist.
The Langston Lady Lions offense then came out of their cage and went on a 24-4 run that led to halftimes score of Langston 42, SAGU 19.
As the second half opened, the Lady Lions of SAGU out scored the Lady Lions of Langston 11-7 in the first five minutes of the second half. This run was capped by an Evelyn Johnson jumper.
But Langston let loose their offense again, building a lead that finished off SAGU by an 87-44 score.
Jamie Duke had her first night as the leading scorer for SAGU as she scored 16 points. Evelyn Johnson also scored 13 points. This was only the second time this season Johnson has not scored 20 or more points. The Red River Conference’s second leading rebounder, Amanda Hores, grabbed eight rebounds on the night.
Tonight, in the Full Life Center, the Lady Lions will host the Bacone College Lady Warriors at 5:30pm.
