The Palmer Bulldogs picked up their first playoff victory since 1991 with a 38-27 win against Malakoff in the Class 2A bi-district playoffs.
Zach Hobbs led the way for Palmer with 14 points while Jose Zamarron and Christian Ramirez added eight each.
With the win the Bulldogs will face Crawford in the area playoffs at 6 p.m. Friday in Granbury.
Palmer is 26-4 on the season and Crawford is the District 16-2A champ and had a bye in the bi-district round.
Playing in Kaufman on Tuesday the Bulldogs raced out to a 10-2 lead after one before leading 22-12 at the half.
Defense took control of the game in the second half as the Palmer lead remained safe. Palmer outscored Malakoff 9-6 in the third to take a 31-18 lead into the fourth.
In the final frame Malakoff outscored Palmer 9-7 but it was not enough to draw close to the Bulldogs.
Adding to the point total for Palmer were Turner Harper with five points and Tyler Lowe with three.
