Game to be telecast on Web site

For those who can’t make it to Texas Stadium for Saturday’s Waxahachie-Highland Park football game, the game will be telecast live on the internet.

Instructions to view the game are as follows: Go to, click on Watch Scot Football “Live on the Web,” and click on game you wish to watch.

Windows Media Player should launch and begin streaming. Program streaming will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Potential soccer players meeting

Coach Venable will host a meeting for all parents whose son or daughter intends to try out and play for the WHS Soccer program.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the 9th Grade Academy Cafeteria.

All who want to try out for both the girls' and the boys' teams, along with their parents, are invited to attend.

This would include not only those students who are currently enrolled in the "soccer" class at the high school, but also those students who are currently involved with other sports activities, such as football and volleyball.

Coaches will be introduced, procedures reviewed, with a question and answer session afterwards.

“Classic Country” Golf Tournament

The RBI Club invites you to participate in the 2nd Annual “Classic Country” Mike O’Daniel Memorial Golf Tournament to be held Oct. 15, at the Waxahachie Country Club.

The annual event is staged to support WHS baseball.

The $85 entry fee per player includes cart, green fee and lunch. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Mike O’Daniel Memorial Scholarship fund. Junior High girls

fall tryouts

Tryouts for junior high basketball and volleyball will begin Tuesday, Aug. 28 and run through Friday, Aug. 31.

Thursday will be the for seventh grade basketball with tryouts from 3:45-7 p.m.

On Friday, both seventh and eighth graders will have a final cut with tryouts from 3:45-6:45 p.m. Permission forms must be filled it and all athletes must have completed a physical.

YMCA volleyball signups

Signups for YMCA soccer for ages 8-17 will take place Aug. 3 through Sept. 3.

The season begins Sept. 22and games are played at the YMCA.
