Hawks blow past Corsicana

A total of 13 players found their way into the scoring column Monday night as the Red Oak boys knocked off Corsicana 78-45 in a road matchup.

Brandon Brady led all scorers with 20 points while Brandon Hebert tied two Tiger players for the second-most points in the game with 11. Jeremiah Gaines added 9 as four other Red Oak players scored 6.

The game was relatively tight early on as Red Oak (17-9, 8-4 district) took a 34-27 lead in at halftime. The Hawks came out in the third period ready to put distance on the scoreboard, outscoring Corsicana 22-5 in the period. The team added another 22 points in the fourth to seal the victory and bounce back from a loss to Forney just before the weather postponed a week’s worth of games.

Midlothian girls off to 1-0 district start

The Lady Panther soccer team won their first district match over South Grand Prairie on Monday, 2-0. Kailea Atkins opened the scoring off an Eliza Carey assist. Liz Williams added the second off a deflected Atkins shot as goalie Dani Mayfield came up with a big one-on-one save late in the match to secure the shutout. The girls are 1-0-0 in district and 4-3-3 overall.

Midlothian boys draw in opener

The Panther soccer team drew its first district game Monday night at South Grand Prairie 1-1. Isaac Arrington put the boys up 1-0 on a ball from Brian Robertson. The Warriors tied it just before halftime and neither team found any offense in the second half. The Panthers are 0-0-1 in district play and 6-3-1 overall.

Waxahachie plays Tuesday, Friday

Waxahachie will play at Waco University tonight in non-district soccer action before playing in Aledo on Friday in the final tune-ups for District 28-4A play. Games start at 5:30 p.m. District play begins Tuesday against Ennis.
