PALMER — The Life Waxahachie Lady Mustangs traveled to Palmer High School on Tuesday night and came away with a four-set non-district win over the Lady Bulldogs.


The two teams split sets of 25-19 before Life reeled off the next two sets, 25-13 and 25-18, to take the match.


Macey Maxwell paced Palmer (6-3) with eight kills, eight assists, four service aces and 17 digs. Mackenzie Marusak added five aces and Morgan Zabojnik had 15 digs.


Life’s game statistics were not provided.


The Lady Mustangs (2-1) open District 11-4A play on Tuesday at home against Venus.


The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to open District 18-3A action on Friday at home against Rice. They will continue district action on Tuesday at Scurry-Rosser.


Maypearl and Midlothian Heritage hooked up in a thrilling non-district match on Tuesday at Heritage High School that went back and forth until the host Jaguars pulled out the victory, 14-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13.


Grace Sweeney had 10 kills and 22 digs to lead Heritage (4-7), which snapped a five-match skid against withering state-ranked competition. Hayden Brunson added nine kills and 22 assists, and Elizabeth Schmidt finished with seven kills and 17 digs. Rhali Adams added 20 digs, Kensey Clifton tied for team honors with 22 assists and Emilee Casey had five total blocks.


For Maypearl, Nanea Storm finished with 11 kills, 16 digs and three aces, Meagan Price added nine kill, 21 assists and 12 digs, and Victoria Southerland chipped in with nine kills. Carsen Young added 27 digs and three aces, Katy McMullin had 16 digs, Lauen Pieper added 17 assists and 13 digs, and Zoe Huskins made six total blocks.


The Lady Panthers (8-2) were scheduled to travel to Ferris on Friday afternoon. Next up is a home non-district match against Benbrook.


The Jags, meanwhile, were slated to play at Class 4A No. 5-ranked Stephenville for their final pre-district tune-up on Friday. District play begins for the Jags on Tuesday at Hillsboro.


BYNUM — The Lady Gladiators took the opening set, but Bynum bounced back to claim the match in four, 23-25, 25-23, 25-11, 26-24.


The Lady Gladiators were slated to host Hubbard on Friday afternoon, looking for their first win of the new season just in time for the start of district play. Italy travels to Kopperl on Tuesday to open its District 15-2A ledger.
