BURLESON, Texas — The Waxahachie High School varsity Lady Indian golf team placed fifth out of 12 teams in Friday and Saturday's Burleson Centennial Golf Tournament held at Glen Rose's Squaw Valley Golf Course.
Waxahachie joined Burleson, Centennial, Denton, Granbury, Highland Park, RL Paschal and Stephenville High Schools in the tournament.
The Lady Indian team of Riley Grimes, Baylie Paris, Adelyn Johnson, Marisabel Garza, Ana Herin and Victoria Garza combined for a total two-day score of 774.
Led by Grimes (91, 90) and Paris shot (94, 89), who finished in the tournament's top twenty, the girls shot 389 the first day and 385 the second. Johnson shot a first-day score of 100 and a second-day score of 99 and Marisabel shot 104 and 107, respectively.
Hendrix (107, 113) and Herrin (109, 101) rounded out the two-day scores while Victoria, who could play only on Friday, shot 82. The Lady Indians will travel to Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury at 8 a.m. Friday to compete in their second tournament of the spring season.
