WAXAHACHIE — Waxahachie Lady Indian Audrey Nalls was one of three sophomore volleyball players chosen by the Texas Girls Coaches Association for its 5A All-State team Thursday.

“The Texas Girls Coaches Association selects up to 40 athletes for All-State honors in all conferences for volleyball," the TGCA website stated. "Athletes need not be seniors to be selected.  Selections are made by the TGCA All-State Committee at their meeting during the UIL State Volleyball Tournament.  Athletes are nominated by member coaches.  The head varsity coach of the school must be a member of TGCA prior to the November 1st membership deadline for honors to be eligible to nominate athletes for honors and for those athletes to receive honors, or to receive honors themselves.”

She joins Wakeland High School's Marissa Harmon and Sydney Kleinman, Prosper High School's Abby Gargus and Haley Killinger and Mansfield Lake Ridge High School's Capri Davis on the 40-girl roster. Nalls was also selected as the District 10-5A MVP after posting 683 kills, 405 digs and 151 blocks in 2016.

On Oct. 28 she broke former Lady Indian Courtney Miller's 2011 Waxahachie High School kill record (607) on Oct. 28. She also helped propel the team to a 14-0 district record and the regional semifinal round of the UIL 5A playoffs.
