PALMER ­— The Maypearl varsity baseball team lost its season district opener 9-1 to Palmer High School on Thursday at Bulldog Field.

The loss marked the third in a row for Maypearl, which fell to Riesel High School in back-to-back games.

The Panthers gained only three hits from shortstop Dakota Davis, and outfielders Cotton Cody and Lonnie Brooks.

The Bulldogs, however had the better outing, out-hitting their cross county foes 14-3 and receiving multiple hit performances from Dylan Lopez, Gunnar Barnes, Cole Yarborough,, Will Corbett and Jacob Ruiz.

Maypearl will face Life High School Waxahachie at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Panther Field, and Palmer will square off against Sunnyvale at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunnyvale High School Baseball Field.
