Waxahachie High School won its first soccer match since dueling Red Oak High School to a draw, beating Mansfield Summit High School 2-0 on Tuesday at R.L. Anderson Stadium.
The win places the Lady Indians at 3-4-2 in the district 14-5A standings and within one point of fourth place Mansfield Timberview High School.
Waxahachie’s varsity girls soccer team was powered by unassisted goals from Alyssa Stevens during the 39th minute and Abigail Martinez during the 77th via a second half penalty kick.
The Lady Jaguars, which were the third district opponent this season to be held scoreless by Waxahachie, fell to sixth place and tied in season points with the Lady Indians.
WHS will face the Mansfield Timberview High School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Lumpkins Stadium with the opportunity to move into a two-team share for third place.
