RED OAK — Red Oak High School Hawkettes drill team captain Emily Jensen joined more than 100 dancers throughout the state as an all-state performer during the Texas Dance Educators’ Association Convention (TDEA) on Jan. 9 at the Marriott at the Woodlands Waterway Hotel in Woodlands, Texas.

The conference is an event only one drill team member per school per year is able to attend.

During the week, Jensen took master dance classes from Yoshi Pineda, who is a choreographer, dancer and aerialist that has reached the semi-final round of reality TV show “America’s Got Talent” and who was runner-up on the second season of TruTV’s “FakeOff.”

She also received instruction from Meghan Sannett, a Vine and YouTube sensation, and performed in two productions and an opening and finale where dancers integrated multimedia technology into their overall performance.

Jensen also had the opportunity to work with other captains throughout the week while taking workshops that gave her valuable information to bring back to the Hawkettes organization.
