Presiding Elder William D. Turner, 80, a native of Sardis and resident of Italy passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in Temple, Texas. Rev. Turner was a retired presiding elder in the African Methodist Church.

On Aug. 12, 2006, the Rev. Turner founded the St. James Worship Center in Milford, Texas.

He is survived by wife Martha Turner; children Helen McClendon, Billy Turner, Brenda Jones, Jesse Turner, Jerry Turner, Carolyn Francis, Cynthia Carroll, Myra Billips, Peggy Wellington and Sharon Blaylock; four son in Laws; 45 grandchildren; 50 great-grand children.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19 in the Allene Thomas Retirement Suite I. The wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. in the Edgar Thomas Memorial Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Bethel AME Church Dallas, Texas.
