Van Russell, 49, passed away in Macon, Ga., early Sunday morning. He was born in Jasper, Texas, to the late Morgan and Marguerite Russell. He served our country during the Vietnam War and was awarded several medals. He never met a stranger, was a giver and always helped others.

His survivors are son Jason Russell of Mesquite; sisters Darleen Adams, Kay Whitten and Melody Hornung, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Russell.

Graveside services were conducted at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, with Pastor David Johnston officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
