Frederick (Fred) Lester Bauer

On July 28, 2020 at the age of 77, Frederick (Fred) Lester Bauer, was called to the Lord while on a family trip to the Cedar Creek Lake. He is deeply missed and will always be loved.

Born in Detroit Michigan on August 31, 1942, he was the son of Lester and Lucy Bauer. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army in 1964-1966 before being honorably discharged. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Marksman (rifle) honors. He received his Associate’s Degree in Business at Macomb County Community College in 1969. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree at Ferris State College in 1972 and his Master’s Degree at Central Michigan University in 1974. He worked as an insurance adjuster, Sunday school teacher and salesman before retiring.

Fred was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie. He prayed the Rosary daily. His enjoyed driving down back roads, exploring Texas parks, car shows, festivals, bird watching, road trips, construction, remodeling and watching his grandchildren grow up. He is remembered for his kindness, selflessness, generosity, and devotion to his wife and daughters. He was the portrait of a family man and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his mother Lucy Bauer; wife Maria Bauer of 35 years; two daughters Bridget Bauer & Theresa Moriarty and her husband Sean; siblings Greg Bauer, Paul Bauer, and Lisa Bauer with her two children, David Czarnecki and Anna Zetterholm; nieces and nephews; grandchildren Clara, Abby, and Bree-Bree; and dogs, Sugar, Pepper, and Lucky.

He was proceeded in death by his father Lester Bauer; brother, Leslie Bauer; and son, Edward Bauer.

The viewing will be at Boze Mitchell Mckibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie on August 3rd from 6-8pm, Rosay at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on August 4th at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waxahachie. The interment service will be later that day at 1:15pm at the DFW National Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, love and support. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a one of a kind grandpa!
