Thomas Ardell Christian (Tommy), 61, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born on Dec. 21, 1958, in El Paso, Texas, and was lovingly adopted by Ardell and Marie Christian of Waxahachie, Texas, as a young boy.
Tommy graduated from Regional Police Academy in 1980 and became an officer at the Waxahachie Police Department. As a police officer, he was a certified search-and-rescue diver and rode bulls and broncs in a police officer rodeo circuit.
During his tenure as an officer, he was awarded “Officer Of The Year” twice and left the department in 1995 as a detective. In 1996, he ran for sheriff of Ellis County and in 2004 he was awarded the Citizens Certificate of Merit Award from Red Oak Police Department, where he was a dispatcher before retiring from law enforcement.
Tommy was preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by brothers, Mark and Donnie; sister, April; daughter, Catrina and her husband Brent; and one grandson, Adam.
As a cancer survivor, Tommy wanted his remains to be donated to UT Southwestern for research purposes.
The family will have a memorial at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Wagon Wheel Cowboy Church, 328 Hoyt Road, Waxahachie, TX.
