Ressie N. White, 91, passed away peacefully Friday evening at Red Oak Health and Rehabilitation in Red Oak.

Mrs. White was born in Leonard, Texas, to GL and Clara (Sudderth) Waddle. She was raised, educated and graduated from Ovilla. She married Earl White Oct. 29, 1932, in Oklahoma.

She had been employed with A Harris Department Store in Dallas, Williams Shoe Store and retired as telephone salesperson with Sears, Roebuck and Co.

She was a longtime member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had been a member of the choir, a deacon, longtime Sunday school teacher and member of the CPWM. She also served on the Ovilla City Council.

She loved working in the yard, flowerbeds and spoiling the grandkids. Her pride and joy was her Big Blue Eyes.

She is survived by her son John A. White and his wife Anita of Ovilla; one grandson, Greg White of Bryan; two granddaughters, Amy Hainz and her husband Jonathan and their daughter Sagan (Big Blue Eyes), Kay Rozum and her husband John of Albuquerque, N.M. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her husband of 70 years, Earl; two brothers, Verble and LC; three sisters Margaret Waddle, Aster McLemore, Monnie Springer; one granddaughter, Gayle White.

The family received friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The celebration of life was 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla with Pastor Vernon J Sansom Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Van McElroy, Wilson Springer, Donnie Pickard, John Ed Presley, Dale Helm, John Duggins. Honorary pallbearers were Elders of Shiloh, Eugene McLemore, Bob Waddle, TC Switzer and Bill Pickard.

The family requests memorials be made to the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
