Freddie Ray Curtis

Freddie Ray Curtis went to be with our lord and savior on December 25,2021. She was born to Fred and Jewel Reynolds Futch on June 14,1934 in Forreston Texas. She called Ellis County home her entire life, and as a child helped her father farm in the neighboring cotton fields. She graduated from Forreston High school in 1952 where she was an All Star basketball player. She helped lead her team to two back to back state championships in 1950 and 1951. She loved being a Forreston Tiger.

She married Paul Wendell Curtis of Ovilla, Texas on October 15, 1952 at her parents home. They were devoted to each other until his death in June of 1973 after a battle with cancer. Now they are reunited in heaven and as she would say "Together Forever".

Freddie had a successful career in the banking industry that spanned over 25 years. After retirement she worked at HEB as a food demonstrator. There she greeted everyone that came in with a smile and a warm hello.

Her love was cooking for her family and doing things for others. She always prided herself with a garden full of fresh vegetables and fruits every spring and summer, that she happily gave away. As a young girl she accepted Jesus as her lord and savior at a revival in Bethel Texas and was a member of Ovilla United Methodist church for over 40 years.

She is survived by her three children, Larry Paul Curtis of Waxahachie, Tx, Michael Ray Curtis of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rhnea Curtis Barnes and husband Jeffrey Barnes of Chandler, Texas; two granddaughters, Taylor Wenberg and husband Dillon Wenberg of Lindale, Texas and Morgan Thompson and husband Wesley Thompson of Athens, Texas; one great granddaughter, Charlie Wenberg.

She was preceded in death by husband, Paul Wendell Curtis; mother and father, Jewel and Fred Futch; brother, John Truman Futch; sister, Frances Norine Wylie (Skeeter).

A Graveside Service will be held at the Ovilla Cemetery on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Heath Sims officiating.

She is much loved by her family and many admiring friends and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Bousquet of Baylor Medical Center for over 30 years of friendship and excellent patient care.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
