Nova Dean Coleman Dawson

Nova Dean Coleman Dawson, 73, of Waxahachie, passed away at 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Baylor, Scott & White Hospital Waxahachie surrounded by her family. She was born December 24, 1947, to John and Neva Coleman in Rusk, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Loyd Dal Dawson whom she married on September 28, 1964. Also, surviving are her beloved children; daughter, Lisa Ann Dawson Simmons, and sons, Loyd Alan and Michael Dean Dawson; four grandchildren, Leslie, Masson, Maria, Miranda, and John; a great-grandchild, Brooklyn; two sisters, Mary Beth Ledbetter and Elaine Baldwin; one brother Wayne Coleman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nova was preceded in death by her mother Neva Marberry Coleman, father John Alfred Coleman, as well as two of her six siblings, Luther Alfred Coleman and Gerald Coleman.

Nova was born in Rusk Texas and later moved to Waxahachie with her large family. She was a multi-talented person. Known as a voracious reader who consumed over 100 books a year. Her favorite author was Louis L'Amour followed by Dean Koontz, Tony Hillerman, and others. Nova also enjoyed creating calligraphy, painting plaster sculptures, listening to country music, and learning about Native Americans. She was particularly fond of many handiworks like cross-stitch, sewing, and crocheting. Most importantly, she loved her role as mother and grandmother. She was known to the family by many names, Nova Dean, Aunt Nowie & Twomommie. She was a selfless servant of others and she adored her family.

The visitation is Friday, September 24th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Boze, Mitchell, McKibben Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday the 25th, at 11:00 AM at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, followed by burial in Kirvin, Texas
