Jerry Ann Pipes died peacefully Feb. 11, 2010, after a short illness. Jerry was born Feb. 19, 1941. She attended school in Grandview and graduated in 1959. Upon graduation, Jerry attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College, now known as University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She majored in art education and graduated in May 1963. On June 1, 1963, she married her school sweetheart, Kenneth Pipes.

Jerry worked for the U.S. Post Office as a clerk for several years in Grandview, Texas, until she became post master in Rio Vista, Texas. She remained there until her retirement in 1992.

After Jerry retired, she kept grandchildren, participated in prayer group, Bible study and service committees through her church. She was also a member of the Sew and Sews quilting group. Jerry was well known for never knowing a stranger. She would talk to anyone who she met as though she had known them for years. She was a devout Christian and would share that faith with everyone. She had many friends throughout the community and area. Jerry was kind, giving and always had a positive attitude about everything in life.

Jerry is survived by her husband, Kenneth Pipes; her brother, Jim Priest of San Miguel, Mexico; her daughter and son-in-law Ann and Glenn Tatum of Concord, Calif.; her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Lynne Pipes of Maypearl; her daughter and son-in-law Sue Ellen and Alan Hale of Grandview; and nine grandchildren, Mark, Andy, Lauren, Jordann, Will, Jesse, David, Elizabeth and Rebekah.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Grandview, Texas. A celebration of life service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Grandview. Interment will follow in Auburn Cemetery.
