Helen Beatrice Park Ballinger was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Alvarado to Herbert McGee Park and Treva Alice Jack Park and died on July 25, 2007, in Houston after a brief illness. Helen was preceded in death by her two brothers, G. Roy Park and Jack Kennedy Park.
She graduated Alvarado High School and attended CIA, Now Texas Women’s University in Denton.
On Oct. 1, 1936, she married Pope Bryan Ballinger, also of Alvarado. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage until his death in March of 1993. Helen moved to Houston to be closer to her remaining family.
She is survived by her daughter, Marylyn Ballinger Douglass; grandchildren: S. Preston Douglass of Corpus Christi and Brooke Douglass Graubart and her husband, Marc, of Houston. She also is survived by four great-grandchildren: Emily, Sarah and Sam Douglass, and Treva Grace Graubart, as well as a nephew, Gary Walden Park, and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a life-long member of the Baptist Church
The family will gather for a private graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery in August.
Her kindness and sweet nature will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
