Giles Carter Edwards went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at† China Spring United Methodist Church with Pastor Allen Grant officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Giles was born June 29, 1927 in Dyllys, Tenn. He grew up in a large family, learned at a young age the value of a strong work ethic, served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a salesman and business owner in the Waco area for a number of years.

Most importantly, Giles was a believer in Jesus Christ. He was an active member of China Spring United Methodist Church and was a man of great faith. He freely accepted Godís gift of forgiveness and spent the last decades of his life earnestly seeking and bringing glory and people to Godís kingdom.

Giles was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. His family will miss his easy smile, entertaining behavior and most certainly his laughter. He lived life to the fullest and gave every endeavor he ventured on his utmost dedication. He was an avid golfer and bicycle rider and a friend who will be missed by many.

Giles was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Edwards;† brother, Winfred Edwards; and son, Jeff Griffin.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Glenda Westbrook Edwards; son, Doug Edwards and wife, Markeeta, of Kerrville, Texas; son, Scott Edwards and wife, Stacie, of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Carol Norred; daughter, Julie Miller and husband, Buddy, of Nashville, Tenn.; several brothers and sisters; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
