David Wesley Milson, 53, of Midlothian passed from this life on Jan. 31, 2011. David was born on Aug. 23, 1957, in Nocona, Texas, to S.L. and Clara Milson.†

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Valree; son, Tanner, a first-year student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Rylea, of Midlothian; mother, Clara of Benjamin, Texas; brother, Shane and wife, Patsy of Duncan, Okla.; sisters, Kathy Wooley and husband, Kermit of Spur, Texas, and Kelly of Austin, Texas; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.†

He was preceded in death by his father, S.L. Milson.

Following his graduation from Midwestern State University in 1979, David began a coaching career which spanned more than 30 years. This included coaching positions at Olney, Spur and Munday before assuming the head basketball coach position at Cedar Hill in 1987. Davidís success as a coach twice saw him lead his teams to the Class 5A state finals, the first time in 2004 and a repeat trip in 2009. These were just a couple of the special memories in a career which tallied 676 wins. While Davidís achievements as a basketball coach were numerous, his true legacy will be the contributions he made as a teacher, friend and family man. Davidís caring and positive attitude was felt by all he came in contact with. He loved his family as he did his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spent his life engaged in doing for others. He will be missed by all whose lives were blessed for having known him.†

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to David Milson Legacy Scholarship Fund, CNB Bank on 9th, Midlothian, Texas.
