She then attended the Denison School of Nursing in Texas for one year and obtained her LPN License. Shortly thereafter, Debbie moved to Illinois and lived there for many years before moving to Texas in early 2014 to be closer to many of her children and grandchildren.
Although tiny in stature, Ms. Debbie had a huge personality that was felt by everyone she met. Anyone who knew Debbie would tell you no one was a stranger to her; they were simply friends she had not met yet. Debbie worked for more than 20 years as a Nurse and was also a Foster Parent for 11 years. Debbie served as President of the Illinois Foster Parent Association and she and her former husband were recognized as foster parents of the year on one occasion. Debbie was a caretaker by nature and loved helping others. In addition to her nursing career and being a foster parent to many honorary sons and daughters, she also volunteered her time at the Midlothian Senior Center. Debbie’s hobbies included fishing, jigsaw puzzles, reading, playing mahjong on her tablet and spending time with family and friends.
Debbie is survived by her partner, Larry Howerton of Waxahachie, TX; daughter Robin Hernandez of Humble, TX; daughter Jennifer (Andy) Wilshin of Melissa, TX ; daughter Tammy (Michael) Mattox of Ennis, TX; daughter, Priscilla Brady of Davenport, IA; Niece Kim Brimage-Lorance of Edmond, OK; Nephew Brownie Lee (Ronel) Brimage of Edmond, OK; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Noah and Irma, her sister, Brownie Sue Graham, and her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Jeremiah Baker.
A date and time for the Memorial Service to be held at the Midlothian Funeral Home in Texas is yet to be determined.
