Harlan L. Morgan, age 90, of Waxahachie, passed away early Monday morning, September 2, 2019. He was born January 20, 1929 in Mt. Peak, Texas to William Hollis and Alta Mae (Farris) Morgan. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany and around Europe during the Korean War. Harlan was a traditional farmer and rancher in Ellis and Bosque Counties all his life. He was a 30-year partner and owner of mMm ranch near Morgan, Texas. In his latter years, Harlan enjoyed his cattle, working on his equipment and working in his yard. He also loved to BBQ, watch the Dallas Cowboys, and he had a witty, dry sense of humor. Harlan and Eula Faye were determined to help all their children and grandchildren graduate from college. They succeeded in this and were avid Texas Tech Red Raider fans.
Harlan was a member of the Texas Independent Cattleman’s Association and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association. Harlan was a longtime member of the Men’s Downtown Bible Class and the First Baptist Church. He was a true family man and Grandaddy. Harlan was one of the last of the greatest generation farmers and ranchers near Waxahachie and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Morgan and wife Terri and Mike Morgan and wife Melissa; six grandchildren, Natalie Shelton and husband Jarod, Angie Tedford and husband Grant, Cole Morgan and wife Jonna, Matt Morgan and wife Laura, Chase Morgan and wife Torri and Drew Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Canon, June, Captain, Anna Faye, Rhett and Taelynn. Also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Alta Morgan; his wife of 50 years, Eula Faye Morgan and brother, Maurice Morgan.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
Graveside service and interment will be 3 PM Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Red Oak Cemetery with Keith Post officiating.
