Palmer ‘Midnight Madness’ football

The Palmer football team will host its first full contact football drills under the lights of Bulldog Stadium at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. The “Midnight Madness” and accompanying food drive will be a new tradition for the Bulldogs and the public is encouraged to come out and show their support. Pizza at Double Dave’s

Double Dave’s Pizzaworks is supporting several charitable efforts; supporters should look for the charity’s donation bucket by the register.

The community can support the 2007 Waxahachie Annual Chamber Auction by eating pizza every Friday through Oct. 5.

The community also can support Friends of Special Olympics the second Friday night of each month.

To participate in the fund-raisers, deposit receipts into the designated chamber auction bucket at the register. Double Dave’s will donate 20 percent of every purchase to the designated charity whether dining in or carrying out.

Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market

Aug. 5-11 is National Farmers Market Week and the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market will host several special events Saturday, Aug. 11.

Arlene Hamilton with the Ellis County Master Gardeners will present a rainwater harvesting demonstration and the growers are sponsoring a watermelon seed-spitting contest.

“Come out and test your ability — first prize will be bragging rights,” a spokesman said.

Vendors will have fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, jams and jellies, salsas, spices, and many other products available for purchase. Master Gardeners will be on site to answer any agricultural questions.

After Hours Improv

After Hours Improv will host a comedy show at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Texas Theater, 110 W. Main St., Waxahachie.
