Summer Moonlight Movies
The city of Waxahachie Main Street Program is sponsoring a series of free movies that will be shown Friday nights in the historic downtown. The movies will be projected onto the side of the Plaid Donkey, located at the corner of Franklin and College streets. Start time for the movie is 9 p.m.
“Over the Hedge” will screen July 27 and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” will finish out the series Aug. 24.
An evening Farmers Market will run in conjunction with the movies. Vendors will be set up at 7:30 p.m. for people to come shop for plants, fruits and vegetables. Many downtown merchants are also extending their store hours to accommodate moviegoers.
“Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come downtown for a night of family friendly fun,” a spokesman said.
Coalition of Senior Partners

The Cornerstone Eagle cheerleaders from Advantage Academy will have a bake sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Oma’s Jiffy Burgers to raise money for cheer camp and uniforms.

The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and continues through Oct. 27. The market is located at the south end of the Ellis County Courthouse on Franklin Street between Rogers and College. Vendors have fresh vegetables and fruits, plants, crafts and wares for purchase. Smoothies and other refreshments are also available. Master Gardeners are on site every week to answer agricultural questions.
All reading logs for the children’s summer reading club at Nicholas P. Sims Library must be turned in by 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28. No logs will be accepted after this date for free circus and carnival tickets or other prizes. The program portion will continue Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. through Aug. 2.
Nicholas P. Sims Library will offer an introduction to the Internet class from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 28.
The class is open to registration for anyone who has a library card at Sims. Pre-registration is required for the class, which is limited to six people. The class will be held in the reference room on the basement level of the library.

Ellis County WIC will hold immunization clinics for the upcoming school year.

The shots are no charge for WIC participants. All others are $14.85 for the first immunization and $20 for two or more. All children receiving immunizations will be required to have a current immunization record. Immunizations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ellis County Museum
The Ellis County Museum will hold its annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 30, with authors Ellen Beasley and Margaret Culbertson discussing a major new publication sponsored by the museum.
In “Waxahachie Architecture Guidebook: Getting Started,” these noted architectural historians have begun researching what will be the definitive work about Waxahachie’s extraordinary collection of building and architectural styles.

part-time instructor job fair
The human resources department of Navarro College will host two job fairs to hire part-time instructors for the fall semester for all campus locations - Corsicana, Mexia, Midlothian and Waxahachie.
The first job fair will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 30, in room 132 on the Waxahachie campus.
The second job fair will be held at the Cook Education Center on the Corsicana campus from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2.
