The Waxahachie Police Department celebrates National Night Out, a crime prevention and awareness event, tonight on the courthouse square in downtown Waxahachie.
Local, state and federal agencies will be present at the Waxahachie event, and the Waxahachie Police Department has invited local businesses and organizations geared toward crime prevention - such as alarm companies, dog protection training, military recruiting, crime victims’ assistance and others - to participate.
Children’s activities will be offered, along with refreshments. The event is free to the public.
Volunteers, donations and sponsors are welcomed for the event. For more information, contact community services officer Wess Winn at (972) 937-9940, ext. 216, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other area communities observing National Night Out on Tuesday are Red Oak, Ovilla, Midlothian, Glenn Heights, Italy and Milford, with the public invited to attend any of them.
In addition to the downtown Waxahachie National Night Out celebration, a community watch block party program has also been scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Tulane Drive and McMurry Street in the Enchanted Gardens subdivision of Waxahachie. Entertainment will include music performed by the Gary Fox family.
