The community is invited to a triple-bill of award-winning one-act plays this Saturday as Waxahachie High School presents its fifth annual “Night of Theatre.”

“Come out and see us, this will be the final performance for our graduating seniors,” high school drama teacher Andy Reynolds said, noting the Midlothian and Grandview High School one-act plays also will be presented.

The curtains go up at 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center, with Grandview High School presenting “Confederate Letters,” Midlothian High School performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Waxahachie High School presenting “Assassins.”

Grandview’s play advanced to the state competition in 2A competition, with Midlothian’s reaching the area competition and Waxahachie’s reaching the regional level.

Praising the level of achievement by the student cast and crew members, Reynolds said those attending the “Night of Theatre” would not only be treated to exceptional performances for their ticket but would also be benefiting a good cause.

“All proceeds go to the scholarship fund with our booster club,” Reynolds said. “We’re hoping to award $7,000 worth of scholarships this year. We’re trying to give as many kids as possible scholarships.”

Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.
