ENNIS - An Ennis man remains hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, in the 1200 block of W. Bardwell Drive.
Luis Sandoval, 79, was walking westbound in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a Ford pickup, which knocked him over to the shoulder, police Lt. Ron Roark said, noting Sandoval is a resident of the nearby senior citizens apartments, which are located across from Ennis High School.
Two witnesses told police they saw Sandoval as they were traveling eastbound, butthe other vehicle struck him before they could get turned around to get him out of the roadway, Roark said, saying the two provided aid until emergency personnel responded to the scene.

As of Monday afternoon, Sandoval was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit.
No charges were filed relating to the accident; however, the pickupís driver, William Christopher Griffin, 35, of Ennis, was arrested for driving with an invalid license and no insurance, Roark said.
