With more than 75 entries in the Crape Myrtle Festival “Pink Petals and Patriotism” Parade on July 4, the parade judges did not have an easy task of determining who would be taking home the winner’s ribbons.
Entries to the parade were judged in five categories: nonprofit, corporate, youth, equestrian and auto.
In the nonprofit category, first place was awarded to the Ellis County Republican Women, second place to Ellis County Master Gardeners and third place to the Chautauqua Preservation Society.
In the corporate category, first place was awarded to Coldwell Banker Residential Mortgage, second place to Citizens National Bank of Texas and third place to Gary Fox/Reed Trucking.
In the youth category, first place was awarded to Girl Scout Troop No. 251, second place to Cub Scout Pack No. 681 and third place to Cub Scout Pack No. 234.
In the equestrian category, first place was awarded to Ranch House Cowboy Church, second place to Cedar Hill Saddle Club and third place to Ellis County Equine Association.
In the auto category, first place was awarded to Dallas Model A Ford Club, second place to John Hamilton and third place to Frank Guy.
The Crape Myrtle Council and the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau host the parade each year.
