Coming off an 11-2 season, the future looks bright for Red Oak.
For the third time in 11 days, the 2019 District 6-5A Division II champion had a junior commit to a Power 5 school.
On Tuesday, it was wide receiver Raymond Gay, who announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Twitter. Red Oak three-star cornerback Darius Jackson committed to Missouri on May 2, and three-star linebacker Jackson Bailey committed to Arizona last Friday.
Gay was Red Oak’s second-leading receiver in 2019, catching 39 passes for 756 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 19.4 yards per catch for a team that reached the 5A Division II Region II semifinals. Red Oak averaged 53.4 points per game and will return quarterback Joshua Ervin, who was the district MVP as a junior after throwing for 2,760 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Gay lists 14 offers on his recruiting page, and Oklahoma State was his first Power 5 offer, with that coming on April 8. Gay is the fourth player to commit to OSU for the Class of 2021, and he’s the second from the Dallas area, joining Frisco Lone Star running back Jaden Nixon.
Oklahoma State was 8-5 last season and lost 24-21 to Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.
Gay won a JV district titles in the 200 meters in the 200 meters (22.98) and 4x100 relay (43.65) in 2019. Competing on the varsity this track season, he won the 200 at the Waxahachie Big Green Relays on March 6 with a time of 22.65.
