Red Oak ISD announced they will have an in-person graduation ceremony for the Red Oak High School Class of 2020 on Sunday, May 31.

“Seniors we wanted to come together this morning just to make some statements and announcements for you. You have been on our hearts, on our minds. We know this is not what you anticipated for your Senior year,“ said Superintendent Brenda Sanford through a Facebook video. ”Graduation has been a question that’s been on everyone’s mind so at this point we have a plan in action.“

School Board President, John Anderson, shared the anticipated news with the senior class.

“We know your senior year hasn’t ended the way you hoped or dreamed it would, but we still think there’s an opportunity to end on a high note,” Anderson stated. “We love you. We’re proud of you. It’s my priviledge to say..Class of 2020, we’ll see you May 31st at Globe Life Field. Go Hawks!”

The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Arlington Stadium at 734 Stadium Drive, Arlington, TX 76011.

ROISD is still working through details on social distancing with stadium personnel before announcing the number of tickets given to each graduate.

Parking will be free at the stadium but the stadium bag policy will be in effect. Bags must be 16x16x8 or smaller, bags for medical reasons or diaper bags are allowed, but will be searched.

On their website they stated, “We MUST follow TEA guidelines for an outdoor ceremony which includes the screening of all guests for health concerns. Any individual who has a cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea, muscle pain, headache, or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, MUST NOT attend. The ceremony will be streamed LIVE through the web for all non-attending family members to view.”

Additionally, they are planning a graduate pick-up day later in May to include programs, transcripts, tickets, instructions, and other items.
