Midlothian Heritage and Life Waxahachie led the Ellis County contingent with a combined 15 total selections this week as the Texas High School Coaches Association announced its academic all-state teams in track, golf and tennis.

The Mustangs placed three boys’ track athletes on the academic all-state team: David Hipshire, who was named first-team; Coby Oder, who was named second-team; and Bryan Harwell, who was honorable mention.

On the girls’ side, the Mustangs added four track honorees: Sydnie Wooten, who was named first-team; Tonee Thompson and Lauren Allen, who were both named second-team; and Annika McBath, who was honorable mention.

Ennis’ Paige Lemonia was also named second-team academic all-state in girls’ track.

For Heritage, girls’ tennis players Kaitlyn De Selle and Rylie Helm received the highest possible honor when both were named to the Elite level on the association’s academic all-state teams.

Also, a trio of Heritage boys’ track athletes received academic all-state honorable mentions: Ethen Agreda, Konner Jones and Malachi Klor.

Tiatan Clark, Jackson Cole and Cody Sutton of Heritage were named to the THSCA academic all-state team in boys’ golf. Sutton was named first-team all-state, while Cole was second team and Clark was honorable mention.
