On Thursday April 16, the Waxahachie Chamber hosted a virtual fashion show on their Facebook page, highlighting the different boutiques in town.

“With the COVID-19 crisis looming over our small business community, the Chamber staff brainstorms each week to think of new ways to make a difference for them,” President of the Chamber, Sandy King shared. “With everyone in quarantine and so much of their attention turned to on-line shopping, we thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase some of the great opportunities to shop Waxahachie on-line!.

The fashion show idea was pitched by the Chamber Vice President, Julie Farrar.

Before the live, the Chamber posted on Facebook saying, “Join us for this virtual LIVESTREAM event on our FB page for a fun showing of Waxahachie Chamber Retail women's and girl's fashion. We will be making a strong show of support to our clothing retail providers through this endeavor - so we encourage you to hop on!”

According to King, there were over 3300 viewers on the Chamber thread alone. The show was pre-recorded, allowing the boutiques to watch along with the public.

“We reached out to our local boutiques and we were able to get 10 lined up today to showcase them like never before. We are using technology at its finest,” shared King during the live stream.

The boutiques highlighted were:

Colorful boutique

The Briarpatch

Confidence shoppe

Copper Rose boutique

Kimmy’s Boutique

Relic + Root

SMD Designs and boutique

Vaqueras boutique

The Velvet Angel

Each boutique was given roughly five minutes to share their fashion pieces with the audience, including accessories and spring wear.

Community members that watched through the entirety of the live were told to comment “I’m still here” and entered a drawing to win a $50 gift card to any boutique.

“Shop small. Keep your wallets open. The economy’s not going anywhere. Mother’s day is coming, get your stuff,” King said towards the end of the live.
