A check worth more than $16,000 means everything to a nonprofit organization that raises funds for people-service agencies.
That’s the generous gift the United Way of West Ellis County received from one local title company after nearly 30 employees throughout its offices in Ellis County contributed to an employee giving campaign late last year. The funds were then matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the company.
“Having served this community for many years and serving on the United Way board, we do reach more than one agency at a time and help more people,” said Melissa Ballard, a senior vice president at Town Square Title Co, LLC.
Contributions to the United Way is nothing new for Town Square, which has been making donations to the nonprofit for more than a decade. This check, however, is one of the largest amounts it has ever raised for the Midlothian-based organization.
“This is one of their top years as far as increasing support for local United Way efforts,” United Way Executive Director Kacey Cheshier said. “We were ecstatic when they gave us a heads up at the end of the year about the amount that they had raised.”
“It’s an organization that truly understands corporate social responsibility and giving back to the regions that they serve,” the executive director added.
Chesier said the funds “will go a long way to support” many people in Ellis County who are in need.
