The beginning of the year is a slower time for adoptions at the Waxahachie Animal Shelter, compared to the holiday season.
“Between Nov. and Jan. we had 182 animals come in and 106 went out,” said Terri Muniz, Animal Services Supervisor.
This shelter is in partnership with the Waxahachie Police Department. At the moment, the shelter has four dogs and two cats available for adoption.
For dogs, the adoption fees are:
Under three (3) months of age, $20.00* and must agree to a sterilization contract.
City Registration, $5.00* (If a city resident)
Over three months of age, $82.00* (includes sterilization, wellness shots, rabies shot)
For cats, the adoption fees are:
Under three months, $20.00* and must agree to a sterilization contract.
Over three months of age, $54.00* (includes sterilization, wellness shots, rabies shots.)
For those not looking to adopt but are wanting to get involved, the shelter accepts donations. They ask for dry dog and cat food, used towels, collars, toys, cat litter and anything else the community would like to donate.
Currently, the facility does not have a working volunteer program. However, they are in the midst of creating one for the future.
Throughout the week, services are provided within the city limits of Waxahachie. The adoption hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturday they are open from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The shelter is located at 191 Lions Park Road, Waxahachie
