Midlothian-based substance abuse prevention agency, REACH Council, is gearing up for its fifth annual Cupid Shuffle 5K and Fun Run this Valentine’s Day weekend on Saturday, Feb. 15.

There will be enough love to go around as participants take to the track at the Midlothian ISD Multipurpose Stadium in their red costumes and heart-shaped accessories.

The theme of the event, however, is serious business - Race against Drugs.

“Everybody can be in agreement that we want to protect our youth, and our goal is to reduce youth substance abuse within our communities,” said Shari Phillips, REACH’s community liaison.

To register, log onto www.runsignup.com/Race/TX/Midlothian/CupidShuffle5KandFunRun.

Race packets and T-shirts can be picked up on Feb. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at REACH’s office at 208 S 4th St. in Midlothian.

Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. before the race starts at 8:30 a.m.

All proceeds will support REACH Council, a nonprofit organization with mostly alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs serving school districts and communities in Ellis and Johnson counties.
