SHERMAN — After being named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Austin College men’s basketball player Michael Holland has been named to the National Team of the Week for his outstanding performance last weekend.

Holland, a junior forward from Waxahachie who played for Midlothian Heritage, averaged 32.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 steals-per-game as the ‘Roos split their conference matchups at Southwestern and Texas Lutheran. Holland scored 30 points in the narrow loss against the Pirates before exploding for career-highs of 35 points and 17 rebounds in a big win over defending SCAC champion TLU.

Holland is currently seventh in the SCAC with 17.5 points-per-game and third with 8.7 rebounds, and is shooting 52.2% from the field, 39.1% from long distance, and 75.6% from the free throw line this year. He also ranks second in the conference with 1.9 steals-per-game.

Milford’s McIntyre shines

Hardin-Simmons sophomore Teddy McIntyre of Milford had one of the top track and field performances in the American Southwest Conference last week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

McIntyre broke school records in both the long jump and triple jump at the Weilert Open. He won the long jump with a leap of 6.88 meters (22 ft.-7 in.), ranking 22nd in Division III. McIntyre came in second with a triple jump of 13.49 meters (44 ft.-3.25 in.), ranking 47th in the country.
