ENNIS — The Ennis Lions played like a team possessed in the second half on Tuesday night as they turned up the defensive pressure and forced the Cleburne Yellow Jackets into several turnovers and bad decisions. Ennis outscored Cleburne 46-31 in that half and pulled away to record an 80-70 victory.

The Lions (2-13, 2-2) were paced by Kevin Avalos with 28 points, Reginald Gaye with 25 points, and Devion Beasley with seven points.

The Lions started out slow. The Yellow Jackets sprinted from the opening tip off to a 23-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ennis came out determined to change that in the second quarter, as they outscored Cleburne 19-16, to make the score at halftime 39-34 in favor of Cleburne.

Cleburne was led in scoring by 32 points from Nash Mosoba, and 14 points from Isaak Cunningham.

Cleburne falls to 5-19 this season and 1-2 in District 14-5A.

14-5A girls: Cleburne 62, Ennis 32

ENNIS — The Cleburne Lady Yellow Jackets swarmed into Ennis on Tuesday night and defeated the Lady Lions by a score of 62-32.

The Lady Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by Haley Jones with 25 points, and Karman Wright with 11 points.

Ennis’ scoring leader was Leah Harris with seven points.

Cleburne's record now stands at 14-14 for the season and 3-2 in district play. Ennis falls to 1-19 for the season and 0-5 in district.
