Homer Lee Young Jr., born May 17, 1936, passed away Dec. 5, 2019. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2020, at Shepherds Valley Cowboy Church Arena in Alvarado, Texas.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Ethelene and Homer Young Sr., and Ann and Hubert McAfee; sister, Barbara White; brother, Wayne McAfee; and grandchildren Jeffrey Fraze and Tyler McMillan.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Janette Young; son, Rodnie Young; daughter, Yalonda and husband Gary McMillan, and daughter Lesa and husband Steve Jordan; and sister, Pat and husband Hugh Ferrell. He has 9 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids.

Homer was born in Gainesville Texas, and then moved to Grand Prairie, where he graduated high school and married Janette. He served in the Air Force, then worked for an armored car service and many years at LTV/Vought.

He owned Grand Prairie Feed & Seed with his wife and brother-in-law Neil Holt and wife Thelma. They moved to Midlothian, where they spent 12 years. Homer was very active in the youth sports association.

They spent the last 16 years in Cleburne, Texas, at Buena Vista Senior Community. Homer was a life-long member of the American Association of Sheriff Posses & Riding Clubs and very active in the National Association of Riding Clubs & Sheriff Posses.

Homer was a Godly man, exhibiting love, compassion, faith and very considerate of others. He took great pleasure in assisting any and all with a contagious smile. He will be dearly missed by many. Please come share your memories and take part in his Celebration of Life.
