Weldon Jay Watson was born January 24, 1933, in Green River, Wyoming, to Beverly Myrtle (Decker)Watson and Claud Watson and departed this life November 16, 2019, at his home in Italy.

Over the course of his 86 years of life, Jay was somewhat the Renaissance man. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in accounting. Over the course of his professional career, Jay managed the Rice Hotel in Houston and the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. He also sold real estate and invested in real estate in Dallas and Ellis County. Jay was a true animal lover and bred Arabian horses. He never met a stray and had a huge heart.

Jay is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 15 years, son Mark Watson (Darla), grandchildren Presley and Cole Watson, stepdaughters Dayna Smith-Payne (Jeremy Payne) and Amber Smith, two nephews; Dr. Bob Burlingame and Dr. Billy Burlingame, three nieces; Linda Cartright, Loretta Peebles and Connie Field, and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded by his parents, Myrtle Beverly and Claud Watson and sister, Beverly Gail Burlingame.

A memorial service for Jay will be held at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Italy Chapel at a later date.
