Maynard Bartow (“Bart”) Harris, III passed away at age 81, on October 26, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on December 21, 1937, in Ft. Worth to his parents, Maynard Bartow Harris, Jr. and Miriam Shackelford.

After graduating from Waxahachie High School, Bart attended college at the University of Texas, where he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He owned a construction company, M.B. Harris & Co., Inc. in Dallas. He loved reading, hunting, history, dogs and horses, and collectible firearms. Most of all, though, he loved his family, and he will be missed beyond measure.

Bart is survived by his children; Amanda Harris Brannum and husband Mark, Bartow Harris and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Kate Brannum, Ben Brannum and May Harris; and brother, Ed Harris.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Miriam (“Mimi”) Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Waxahachie City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bart’s memory to Quail Forever or an animal shelter of your choice.
