Charles Alexander Johnston went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2019. He was born September 9, 1933, in Cape Croker, Ontario, on the Ojibwe Indian Reservation to parents Alex Johnston and Beatrice Jones Johnston.
He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force before leaving Canada. He came to the United States in 1959 to attend Southwestern Bible Institute (SAGU).
He married Bettie Jean Adams on April 15, 1960, in Maypearl, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, three sons and two daughters: Steve Bradford and wife Sandy of Lincoln, Nebraska; sons Tim Johnston and Paul Johnston of Waxahachie; Kathy Johnston Hammel and Thomas of Houston, and Beverly Howard and Mark of Waxahachie.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jason, Allison, John, Anne, Ashley, Michael, Caleb, Daniel and Kaylee and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son Mark Johnston. He is survived by brothers Ted and Bill Johnston and sister Bernice Hill all of Canada. He was preceded in death by siblings Orville, Ross, Dorothy, Keitha and Iola.
He was a faithful member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 32 years and leaves behind many friends from that fellowship. He was an avid fisherman. He and Bettie owned a camper for many years and greatly enjoyed frequent camping and fishing trips with their children and grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 505 W. Marvin Avenue, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
