Ruth L. Morland Burks met her Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Waxahachie.

Ruth was born in Hugo, Oklahoma, on January 17, 1931, to Armer Nance and Edward Morland. She married Edward W. Burks in 1951, and they had four children, Michael, Sharon, Karen, and Rhonda.

Ruth was hard-working and loved her family fiercely. Over the course of her career, she worked in a candy factory, owned her own dry cleaners, and was a beloved “lunch lady” for Waxahachie ISD. “Granny” could always be found loving on one of her great-grandchildren or doing something to be of assistance to someone in her family.

Ruth is survived by her four children: Michael Burks, Sharon Swaim, Karen Turner and husband Kent, and Rhonda Johnson and husband Russell. She is also survived by grandchildren Bill Trull (Holly), Amy Crouch (Bill), Ricky Swaim, Carrie Turner, Willie Turner (Sarah), Ben Bridges (Jenny), Matt Bridges, and Sarah Bridges, great-grandchildren Ayden, Caleb, and Garrett Trull, Dreylon Burks, Austin and Grace Swaim, Whitney Bell, Joey, Jeremy, and Josh Brashears, Bailey Skinner, Eli and John Ryan Turner, Stella and Parker Bridges, and Jacob and Hank Bridges, two great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, and her siblings.
