A Southwestern Assemblies of God University student died Sunday night after he contacted a powerline while roof jumping in downtown Waxahachie.

The victim, 20-year-old Jedidiah Brookbank, was jumping between building rooftops with a friend when he hit a powerline between one of his leaps. According to a Waxahachie PD media release, Waxahachie Police and Fire discovered Brookbank on a business rooftop near 100 North Rogers Street after they were dispatched to the scene at around 11:20 p.m.

“It was a great way to go for a young man, albeit a little foolish,” Jedidiah’s father, Brian, stated in a public Facebook post. “Though shattered, we are well, looking with joy and expectancy to joining Jed in the presence of the Lord.”

Jedidiah’s body was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office and is pending an autopsy.
