The regular season came to a close for the Waxahachie Lady Indians softball program Tuesday with a 9-2 road loss against South Grand Prairie.

The Lady Indians would have forced a tie for third place with South Grand Prairie had they won Tuesday. Instead, Waxahachie will enter the 6A playoffs for the first time in program history as the fourth seed in 7-6A.

The Lady Indians end the regular season with an 18-7 overall record.

Waxahachie ultimately finished five games ahead of fifth-place Mansfield Summit.

Mansfield Lake Ridge and Mansfield both finished the district slate with identical 12-2 records.

Waxahachie will face 8-6A champion (17-8, 12-1) Duncanville in the bi-district round of the 6A Region I playoffs.

Game one is at 7 p.m. Friday in Waxahachie, while game two is at 4 p.m. Saturday in Duncanville.

Game three, if needed, will be played following game two Saturday.
