Artisans will be celebrated during the second weekend of the 39th annual Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

The sixth annual Artisans Showcase Weekend will feature showcase tents in each of the three areas of the Festival — Crown Meadow, Pecan Grove and Holly Field — that will allow visitors a preview of the vast array of exquisite one-of-a-kind and handmade artwork and crafts that can be found in the 200-plus Scarborough shops.

Visitors can also vote for their favorite craft or shop in the “Best in Show” contest and be registered for the chance to win a gift basket with a collection of treasures from Scarborough artisans. There is even a shopping adventure — the Artisans Scavenger Hunt — that offers the opportunity for festivalgoers to find the treasures hidden in shops all over the Festival for the chance to win a Scarborough souvenir prize pack.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival proudly boasts one of the largest outdoor juried craft shows in the U.S., states SRF press release.

"Here you will discover some of the most unique crafts and works of art found anywhere in North Texas," the release adds. "You can also experience interactive demonstrations by many of the Artisans throughout each day of the festival."

Those who spend over $250 in the festival's shops can present their receipts at the redemption tent between noon and 8 p.m. Saturday or Sunday to receive two free single-day tickets to Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

“We are extremely proud of the outstanding artisans at Scarborough Renaissance Festival and the artisan’s showcase is our way showing them off," general manager Coy Sevier said. “Not only do our artisans have some of the most fantastic artwork and crafts you will ever see, most of their works you simply can’t find anywhere else.

"Visitors also have the opportunity to see how many of these crafts are made as the artisans demonstrate age-old techniques every day of the Festival season. It really makes you appreciate the hard work and artistry that goes into making these pieces. You don’t want to miss it!”

Visitors to the festival are sure to enjoy full-combat armored jousting, Birds of Prey exhibitions, 25-plus stages of interactive and unique entertainment, the Mermaid Lagoon, Renaissance Combat competitions and Knighting ceremonies. Festivalgoers will also discover exquisite one-of-a-kind treasures at the 200-plus shops and amazing artisan demonstrations along with Renaissance rides, games of skill, and food and drink fit for a king.

Festivalgoers can likewise explore the creations of St. Thomas Brass Rubbings, Silverleaf Costumes, Living Art & Lanterns, Fuglyware Pottery, and Gentry Jewelry, the festival's guest artisans. The wines featured this weekend at the Daily Wine Tasting Events will be the wines from Down Under and the Daily Beer Tasting Events will feature the "Beers of Belgium." The tasting events have limited seating available and require a separate ticket. Participants must be 21 years or older to attend.

Upcoming themed weekends include Artisan’s Showcase (April 13-14), Celtic Weekend/Easter Celebration (April 20-21), Royal Ale Festival & Spring Celebration (April 27-28) and Deaf Day (April 27). Each weekend also has a variety of special events.
