Brittany Cox coincidentally celebrated eight years of business on the same day that she opened her second location and first in downtown Waxahachie.
Cox established Dazzling Diva's boutique as a brick-and-mortar in Brownwood while on a mission to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a prosperous entrepreneur.
“Ever since I opened the first one, I’ve never only seen just one in the future,” Cox said from behind the counter. “I have always wanted multiple locations … and I see even more in the future.”
Born and raised in Brownwood, inspiration from her grandfather’s entrepreneurial success in the junkyard business fueled her drive.
“His family had no money, and they couldn’t even afford shoes. He built this multimillion-dollar business,” Cox explained. “He always stayed grounded and humbled and always gave back to the community and so I’m just a strong believer that if you take care of others and give back to your community, then it will all keep holding.”
Cox received a degree in marketing and management from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and immediately saw her future in business. In high school, she developed a business plan and expanded on the model through college.
Cox had been fixated with the downtown building ever since she and her husband and two children moved to Waxahachie nearly three years ago. Cox has embraced the window space and the upstairs that consists of 300 square feet. The 1,200 square feet downstairs includes trendy, practical and affordable articles of clothing from dresses, rompers, pants and tops.
“I love crazy pieces, but I don’t like to purchase pieces that you can only wear one time," Cox said. "I feel like as moms and women we want pieces that can transition and wear in different ways.”
“I try not to go over $45, and we have a lot in the 20s. I would say $34 is the median,” Cox detailed.
Local shoppers can take advantage of the vast shoe selection of sandals and slides. Cox noted the collection of active and loungewear sets her shop apart from others in downtown.
Cox strives to stay stocked with a variety of pieces with at least 45 new arrivals made available weekly. Within the next week plus sizes will be available in-store. In about six weeks Cox will launch an app for her business and hopes to include more gifts for sales under $15.
