Mary Evelyn (Cooke) Patman, age 86, passed away Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019, in Ennis, Texas. Mary was born August 16, 1932, in Ellis County to Frank and Una (Slocum) Cooke. She was one of twelve children in a close-knit Christian family. She married Donald Patman on October 20, 1950. The couple, later on, adopted two children, Steve and Lori (Vantreese) Patman.
Mary possessed every trait that a Christian wife and mother could possibly have.
She was a precise seamstress. She cooked for her farming family sacrificing her time for them. She was an artist with many beautiful paintings to her credit. Everything that she did was precise. Mary was a member of the Brown Street (formerly College Street) Church of Christ in Waxahachie, Texas where her husband Donald served as an Elder for many years. Her love and devotion to her family and to the Lord were demonstrated in everything she did. Mary served her Lord faithfully in many ways. She taught Bible Classes, Vacation Bible School, Summer Youth Camps and participated in Mission Trips and was a constant source of encouragement to all.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Donald; two children, son Steve Patman and wife Joyce, daughter Lori Vantreese; six grandchildren, Dustin Patman and wife Melinda, Stephanie Cochran and husband Andrew, Donald "Chase" Patman and wife Ashlei, Lyndsay Cannon, Cecile Vantreese, Erin Allen; six great-grandchildren, Tatum Marshall, Stevey Marshall, Corbett Cockran, Piper Cochran, Culver Patman and Zane Cannon; three brothers, Ralph Cooke and wife Juanita, Wendell Cooke and wife Marva, Billy Joe Cooke and wife Evelyn; two sisters, Larue Dyess and Betty Venable and husband Sonny; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by two brothers; Hollis and Fred Cooke; four sisters, Phama Garritson, Ina Mae Nash, Genieva Dyess and Frankie Lord along with her Mother and Daddy.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 6-8 PM at the Brown Street Church of Christ.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, March 22, 2019, at Brown Street Church of Christ.
